Certification Testing

The Certification examination is a multiple-choice examination. Each test item consists of a question with a correct answer and three distracters. A comprehensive examination of this nature assesses an individual’s knowledge of police practices and the ability to apply knowledge learned to scenarios in a written exam. On the day of the examination applicants will be given three hours to complete the testing process.  Passing score on the examination is 68%.

Additional study resources are:
Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure (Title 234)
        Pennsylvania Crimes Code (Title 18)
        Pennsylvania Vehicle Code (Title 75)
Constitution of the United States of America

On the date of testing, applicants will be required to bring two sharpened #2 pencils and a valid Driver’s License with photograph as proof of identity. The use of books and handouts is prohibited during testing.
